System Modes in .NET web client?

Has anyone implemented control of System Modes in the .NET web client? I can see that it is done in the PHP version, but I couldn't really figure out how to do the same in same fashion that everything else is done in the original .NET version.
I need IE 10 metro compatibility, by the way.
