SwitchKing on Fedora

Post by jarlebh » Tue 10 Jan 2012, 21:31

I am trying to run SwitchKing on Fedora 16, but SwitchKing crashes a while after startup.
I have tried both mono version 2.10.5 that is installed with Fedora 16 and built mono 2.10.8.
Both gives the same stracktrace, I can't really see where it fails from the stack.

Any help on how to pinpoint the issue would be welcome.

Running Duo with tempsensors or "only" standard TellStick?

Duo with 3 sensors now, moved from a windows server where everything worked.
Configured the /etc/tellstick and copied switchking db.
I have also tried with an empty db.

First thing I'd try would be to remove the batteries from the sensors and see whether it is stable without sensors in play.
If Switch King crasches with an empty db this also strengthens the theory that sensors might be the problem - several users face the same problem when running Windows and are waiting for the next version of the Telldus drivers.

Versions of Mono earlier than 2.10.8 had a bug that could cause Switch King to crasch if the Windows client was connected to the server at the same time as a request from a mobile device came in to the server, or data was collected from a data source using Xml structured data (like temperatur.nu).
This bug is, however, fixed in 2.10.8 and you shouldn't be affected if you are running 2.10.8.

Haven't tried Fedora myself so I cannot say how well Switch King runs on the Mono core on Fedora...

I think it is related to the DUO, if I use an empty DB and empty tellstick.conf it runs until I select the DUO event viewer.
BTW: Do you prefer English or Norwegian ?

I just monitored with SensorsJNACallback, and I do receive a sensor event when SwitchKing dies.
So are you saying that this is an issue with telldus-core ?

I don't know if this specific problem is an issue with telldus-core but Telldus has confirmed problems with sensor data in telldus-core and is expecting to release a bug fix for this in the next few weeks.

This is best bet due to that the same problem seems to exist in the Windows version as well.

It would be interesting though, to see whether Switch King crasches if you temporarily disable the temp sensors...

(About your language question, let's continue this thread in English since we started in English :))

I will try more tomorrow, but to me it seems like it crashes also when receiving the events for status update when turning a device on/off.

If it crasches when receiving data or state change, and temperature data isn't collected by the Duo at the same time, it sounds like an incompatibility with Mono on Fedora.

I'll try to set up a Fedora installation to see where it takes us.

If you like, I can open up the server for remote access.
